About buns & guppies

buns and guppies is a small handmade jewelry business.

Recognizing the many blessings God has given me, and motivated by a desire to “give back”, I started making jewelry in early 2005 with the intention of selling it and donating part of the proceeds to charity.  Praying for guidance, the name “buns and guppies” came to me as “the little loaves and fishes”.  In the Bible story, Jesus multiplied a few loaves of bread and fish to feed thousands of people who had gathered to hear him.  So, little buns and guppies became the way to work towards my goal.

Even though buns and guppies began as a one person endeavor, word of mouth traveled fast and the demand for our jewelry grew.  Enlisting the help of my mother, Carol, and two friends, Jennifer and Betsy, and within the schedules of “normal family life with kids”, we work little by little to further our mission.  Half our profits are donated to charity, an organization called Feed The Children, and the other half is put right back into the business.

All our pieces are handmade and many are unique, due to limited supply of certain beads and the creative juices that flow as a result.  With each piece of jewelry purchased, we include a small card explaining the buns and guppies mission.

Since our start early in 2005, many people have contributed their time and their support to this project, which seems to touch people’s lives in more ways than one.  To each of them, I am truly grateful.   As we work on this project, we are overjoyed and humbled as God continues to orchestrate and bless our effort.

With sincere thanks,
Bernadette
